Prime Minister Scott Morrison weighs in. Maritime union offers deal to end Port Botany wharf industrial action.
The maritime union is offering a peace deal to end its industrial action at Sydney’s Port Botany after the federal government accused it of extortion.
The MUA has been accused of crippling operations at Patrick’s Port Botany facilities, the industrial action had reduced the company’s operations in Sydney to 50% or 60% of usual levels and had caused a backlog of 90,000 containers.

Unfortunately we have been dealt another blow today, finding out from freight forwarder that there has been another 6 day delay for our container, full of neoprene, to arrive due to ongoing disruptions at the Sydney Ports.

Recent events at Port Botany such as union shut down of work & go-slows have contributed to continued delays at Port Botany. Other outside factors such as adverse weather, congestion of shipping lines across Asia, US & Europe, and shipping lines omitting Sydney all together have had a cumulative affect on the arrival of containers and goods into & out of Sydney.
